Captains Log Canal Date 3rd May 2009 Moved from Atherston town centre moorings to a much nicer spot in the village of Hantshill. Location SP 33636 964554 And what do you know, its right outside the village pub! We expect to remain here until Tuesday morning when Pete & Margret are joining us for the day. We will aim for the Lime kilns Inn where the Ashby Canal goes under the A5 . Quick note to self " Stopping outside pubs can be hazardous to wealth!" Travelled 2.5 miles 0 locks Captains Log Canal Date 2nd May 2009 First day of retirement First day of our world cruise of the inland waterways! Had passengers Martin & Kath for this leg. They proved to be most usefull when going thorough the 11 locks at Atherston. I am sure that the locks & bike ride did Martin no end of good! Said out goodbyes an set off from Alvecote Marina at 10.45 traveled 6 miles & 11 locks. Arrived at Athertone at 4.30 location SP 30670 97432 Atherston Town Centre No faults on boat. Weather very fine. Life is good!
